A message for our customers...
Unfortunately, we must advise you that we have started consultation with our staff about the potential closure of our business: the Waterfront Hotel and Prego restaurant.
We are fortunate that we have many loyal customers who have become friends to us over the years, but we have to recognise that economic uncertainty has affected how often people are able to enjoy eating out or visiting the local area.
We had hoped to continue operating as we are proud of our business: our hotel and restaurant play a key part in the local community and employ a large number of people locally. Many of our staff have been with us for years and we really appreciate their hard work and dedication.
Regretfully, the forced closure of the hotel and restaurant in connection with the Coronavirus pandemic has had a devastating impact on our business. Each week that we remain closed, we are making financial losses, which will be very hard to recover from. We believe that we must seriously consider closure.
We have not made any firm decisions about the future of the hotel and restaurant yet. We are committed to the process of consultation with our staff and to considering what comes out of that consultation. We hope to be able to make a firm decision by late June/ early July and I will update this statement in due course.
If you have made a booking with us for an event, or a reservation for a room or table, then I will be in touch with you to provide you with an update and, if necessary, to help you to make alternative arrangements.
I am sure that you will appreciate that this is going to be a difficult decision for us to make and that it is a worrying time for our staff.
