Situated on the banks of the Calder & Hebble Navigation, you can enjoy a relaxing stroll along the newly covered towpaths. Just minutes along the canal it opens up into beautiful countryside, perfect for cyclist, walkers and fishing enthusiasts alike.

Biking:

If you have your own bike, perhaps you’re touring around the area, enjoy a well-earned break at the Waterfront Hotel and Venue. Relax, enjoy a glass of wine or chilled beer. Bikes can be taken to your hotel room or stored in the function suite subject to availability.

Canoeing:

ROKT Climbing Centre:

The UK’s highest man-made climbing wall is directly across the canal from the Waterfront Hotel. Try the 4.5m high competition boulder wall, the monster boulder field room, or the main bouldering chamber. ROKT also offers a Nerf arena, spin cycle studio, escape room and yoga studio. Golf:

Spend an afternoon on the local 9 Hole Fountain Ridge Course or driving range. Hire of balls and clubs available and no dress code! For the more serious golfer, we’ve teamed up with our superb local golf club, Willow Valley, to offer you great rates on accommodation, dinner and golf. Smith Art Gallery

This purpose-built Art Gallery and public library, known as ‘The Rydings’, is surrounded by a beautiful park and gardens. The gallery was built by Alderman William Smith and donated, along with his collection of artworks, to the people of Brighouse in 1907.

Venue: 73

Venue 73 is a large dance and live music venue, voted the best Northern Soul Venue in the North. As well as hosting Motown, Folk and Pop music nights to name a few.

Our central location means the Waterfront Hotel and Venue is an excellent base to explore the surrounding area, whatever your reason for visiting.

The Pennines offer vast areas of untouched countryside, with breath taking views, wildlife and waterfalls. Ideal for the pleasure walker or hardcore mountain biker!

For a bit of retail therapy there are many independent shops and boutiques within walking distance of the hotel. Plus, we are a short journey from Huddersfield’s Kingsgate Centre, The Broadway Bradford, Leeds city centre, the White Rose Centre; or a little further afield, Manchester’s Trafford Centre and Sheffield’s Meadowhall. From high street to designer fashion you can shop till you drop!

For the smaller visitor why not try Eureka! A children’s museum that will entertain for hours. Even the grownups might learn a thing or two! For older children the National Science and Media Museum offers you the chance to create your own news show or cartoon, plus see film & photography equipment of the past and take in the latest 3D film in the Imax cinema.

For those who enjoy a bit of sporting action, Huddersfield Town & Rugby League Giants’ home, the John Smith Stadium, is just 15 minutes away. As is Willow Valley Golf Club.

Take a stroll around the stately home and gardens of Shibden Hall. The hall has been featured in the drama Gentleman Jack which hit our screens this year on BBC and HBO. Created by Sally Wainwright, ‘Gentleman Jack’ was filmed in 2018. The hall can be dated all the way back to 1420. It houses an eccentric carriage collection, craft work displays and the fascinating tales of Anne Lister; a noted diarist who challenged 19th-century expectations of women. The Piece Hall, Halifax; Following a multi-million pound transformation, The Grade I Listed Georgian building reopened in 2017. It features a mix of independent bars, restaurants, shops and cafes.
